CrossFit Games Open 13.5 Results

😦
I managed 11 thrusters in 4 minutes ….not much and yet it rates with some of the hardest, difficult and most painful things I have ever done…weird…and is making me want to do more …must be brain-damaged 🙂

Every week I have approached the open cold turkey…in other words I had never done the standard or the motion before…take burpees for example.
-always used a parallette to get to a kneeling position
-then to a push up
-scramble back to kneeling
-use parallette to straighten out and stand up….you get the drift ?????

To do the proper burpee I watched Alexa (fellow CF) do her burpees over and over visualized for days even damn well dreamt about it and then did them..COLD…for the open…I was not able at this time to expend any energy in doing anything prior to the exercise except stretch. Every single motion I did was visualized, the moment Dave Castro told us what it was…that is all I thought about…I would look at how it was done and went for it.
I had never put anything more that 15lb over my head…never went below parallel on squats and the list goes on….

It actually took me about 3 months to be able the jump up on a 10lb plate…lol…I simply could not get both feet off the ground together…I would just stand there and push to try to jump upwards and nothing would happen…it felt like there was a conduit that was missing between feet and brain…now somehow I bypassed it and re-wired so that I can box jump 11″ and will get higher 🙂

Oh well enough yakking…I have lots of work in front of me…can’t wait for next year

CrossFit Games Open 13.5

I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IT !!!!!!!! 🙂 I just may be able to do it….If I get past the 15 thrusters

4 minute AMRAP of:
15 Thrusters (100 / 65 lbs)
15 Chest to bar Pull-ups
*4 minute bonus for every 90 reps (3 rounds) completed.

Masters Women 60+
15 thrusters @45lbs..there is a catch I have never done thrusters with that weight 45lb a few with lesser weight like 30 lb less ..lol..
15 chest to bar..and get this, the masters is a jumping chest to bar pull up ..mmmmm…interesting

Well it is the GAMES..so suck it up sister and lay it on…who cares that you are sick and running a temperature ( it may be better by Friday ) and anyway we have a saying in Crossfit that before you die you will pass out LOL 🙂 I am banking on that 🙂

Let the games continue…this is so much fun 🙂

Krabi…….

We went on a speedboat trip to different islands to swim , snorkle…etc.

Speedboat was great getting on…sat in the front…well padded seat and wedged…water was not too choppy…so I did not get thrown all over the place,,What scenery!!! Limestone rocks, jutting out of the water..craggy and spectacular shapes…wait ’till you see the pics that I will attach to the Blogs…I was able to get on and off the boat at the different beaches since they backed up the boat onto the beach and I had lots of help with the high steps and ladder…The only thing I could not attempt was the snorkelling from the boat…the ladder just does not go down into the water far enough for me to get back up…hey!!! much better than I had actually expected. We stopped at Rai Island for lunch…and the spread of food was unbelieveable…fish, crab, shrimp…chicken , pork…have I said before that I love Thai food :)..After lunch more swimming and lying on the beach…and then the 1 1/2 hour return to the Royal Phuket Marina…All of this for 2 people was 7,000BHT  approx $300 CAD

I have been to many places in the USA , Bahamas , Jamaica etc. They can’t even come close to how we were treated on this trip..snacks , pop, sweets, fresh fruit.

Anyway time to go to Supper. I will be writing lots more when I get home and can include the pics

I AM COMING BACK HERE FOR SURE !!!!!!

Got my MOJO back…it’s about time

Whew….that was quite a haul…I am starting to feel better. FINALLY …Taking vitamin D, getting some energy..still having some issues with sucking oxygen during the WOD…but starting to chirp mentally again..lol… When I get depressed I get depressed…I hate being sick..and with not getting much natural Vitamin D this summer..the lack of sun really made me dig that hole deeper.

I have stopped being a baby and pandering to the ouch, ouch of my right leg and am doing normal (for me) WOD’s again…feel much better about that..the not whimping out bit. The Colonel put them in pretty good and I won’t break them for sure…what is a bit of pain in the scheme of things. I have lived with worse.

Going to Thailand next week and really looking forward to lying on the beach, riding Elephants..trekking through the jungle…getting into trouble….mmm did I say that??? I will try …try being the operative word….to be good.

Anyway it is 02:45…time to try to go back to sleep…9 more sleeps…

Skimming like a bird…sorry…. Dragon across the water

This was unbelievable fun…..I really have no words….I could just cry from joy (in fact I did…don’t tell ..kills my image 😉 ). If there was water on my face it was from splashing.

To be able to do stuff like this again. It is hard to wrap my mind around it. The guys helped me in and out of the Dragon Boat….we entered and exited from the dock. We paddled the course a few times…I had Chris next to me and Tushard (Trauma Doctor) behind me…in case anything went wrong…they could just heave me off the boat…I float really good …even with the hips 🙂 The only time I had an issue was walking on the floating dock? I always had good balance being on moving objects…boats, planes etc. , this is odd I will need to go and practice on the neighbour’s dock and figure out what is happening.

Never thought that I would feel the competitive juices flowing again…gosh I love that feeling….edgy…I want to get a skull for 2 now. We live right on the Saint John River and we could build a frame to put the skull in so that I could lift myself in and out of it…like a u shaped dock with a pull up bar…That would be a blast to go skimming over the water in the summer.

I really need something to make up for not being able to skydive, bungee jump,  etc.  the list goes on..This could be it.

Saturday is Dragon Boat  race day….can’t wait….will post some pictures  😉

Time just flies when you are having fun….except when you are doing Burpees

Yeah !!! Burpees

Tonight I had fun…did not do Burpees…5 Rounds of 12 Medball press; 12 Squats for time  did 6 rounds ’cause not happy with 1 set of medball press..finished 8:34

Had a great burn in the upper thighs….

Also did the motion #1 movies for Step Ups and Rowing

I did a modified WOD on Monday…” Nate”  20 Minute AMRAP…6 Ring Rows;6 Push Ups; 6 KB swings 20 LB..Did 14 + 6

No WOD tomorrow because my Boss is taking me out for supper and I want a nice big Filet Mignon still running on my plate…in other words ” BLOODY ”  I am Paleo Cave Woman…need meat…grrrr

May not have to get my “wings” clipped

Had a meeting with the Colonel on Wednesday and we discussed the usual stuff to do with the Crossfit WOD’s , motion, weights. Figured out that too much weight overhead is not good (pain) and we decided nothing over 20 LBS for overhead Squats,Jerks etc. We will be taking a closer look at all the Motion Ranges that I will be taping.

He has allowed me to paddle in the upcoming Dragon Boat races, however only if I can find a safe way to get in and out of the boat (lifting the leg to get in over the side of the boat is a big NO NO). My take on this is that we have all these guys that have super strenght….reading my mind are you….yes I am sure they can lift me into the boat as well  :).

As you all know I have  Heterotopic Ossification in both legs. I have started to feel a marked reduced range of motion (ROM) in the right leg (operated on the end of March 2010) and there is pain involved. The left leg which was operated on 15th July 2010 and had a partial revision 20th December 2010 is starting to hurt and both legs have areas that are quite tender and painful when pressure is put on them…they remind me of paper cuts….only from the inside. The Colonel feels that we may not have to operate …as previously discussed I do have a great pain tolerance and if the ROM loss stays what it is now…well I can work around it. The surgery would mean that everything is cut open again…the bits of ossification are snapped of the bones and then burned out of the muscles and soft tissues…and that is the problem…more soft tissue damage with no guarantee that they will not grow back…SO WE SIT AND WAIT…just like the Army…Hurry up and wait….talk about Deja Vu….

Anyway…should be a super day at Crossfit…looking forward to it ( I am a sick puppy) 🙂

Every day that I can do stuff is a great day…..may as well do everything I can and push that envelope…have fun..’cause you never know when it will end….live it to the MAX…..2 1/2 more months and I am off to Thailand….Yeah!!!!

The Bear Complex WOD (Modified )

During the warm up where I take a dowel and straight-arm pull it over my head and rotate arms behind my back ,to help shoulder motion. I suddenly sprouted a big purple bruise on the inside of my elbow??? I had blood work done yesterday???but I did a big work out in the evening and nothing…weird!!! It does not hurt anymore..it was tender for a bit…But I am tough did the workout anyway  🙂

This was a great work out…by the 3rd round I was sweating…even with lighter weight and the safety of the bench for the squat…round 5 I had to take a rest and then I had some extra oumpf and threw in # 6…a girl has to have some fun!!!

Yesterday (Monday) did a fun one as well:

5 rounds of :

3 Ring Rows

6 Push Ups

9 Squats

Sunny Saturday at the UNBSJ Track

What a wonderful day…we have not had much sun here this summer and it felt so nice…light breeze .

We met at the track Mike, Nick, Greg, Jeff, Alexis, Doris Chris and me. Two teams of 3. Chris has an injured toe so it is difficult to run  and he was told by the doctor at Emerg to give it a rest and I am not allowed to run (which of course I have been whining about ) and yes Colonel you are right again…IT HURTS TO RUN!!!!  😦

I just got happy…lost my mind and ran…(like a colt in a field..NOT…more like a Flemish Horse )…mmmm tried to run is more like it. I did about 10 yards…it is the motion I think of trying to stretch the leg out and push off…could not do it….tried itty bitty steps…that did not work either…then I realized what I was doing and stopped…I am such an idiot!!!! I get so happy I just start dancing around and forget where I am…must be the anaesthetics 🙂

Anyhow…it was a great day and a lot of fun..Cheering,taking photo’s and movies of the CF’s during their WOD
